2004 International Exchange Camp in Etajima
-International Exchange Volunteer Seminar-
Purpose
Our aim in this program was to develop Japanese ability for cross cultural communication. We wish that Japanese could get not only knowledge, but also the cross-cultural communication ability through communication with International Students and respect another culture.
Organized by
Independent Administrative Institution Etajima National Youth House and International Student Center of Hiroshima University. Coordinators were Mr. Masahira and Prof. Nakaya.

26 young Japanese people who were interested in International Exchange, 14 Chinese who were undergoing training in the Youth House and 10 International Students from the Hiroshima University.

Communication Game
"Survival Game in Desert Island"
The aim was to improve the ability of expressing one's own ideas and feelings honestly and coming to a consensus within the group. There were five groups consisting of 10 participants in each group. First, ten people wrote ten rules of living in the desert island in one card. Second, they made pairs and discussed about the rules and came to a consensus on five rules. Third, all five pairs got together and discussed on the rules they had written, came to a consensus and made ten rules. Last, a representative of each five group explained their rules.

Group Discussion on "Living Together in Multicultural Society"
There are five groups consisting of 10 participants in each group.
One person in each group wrote one idea on the theme in one card (10 minutes) Then, each group which consisted of 10 persons got together and put the cards on which the same idea had been written. Next, they organized their each idea like a web. Afterwards, each group discussed on what each person wanted to do to make the theme a reality. Last, a representative of each five group explained their discussions.
